Three oral health screening questions are provided in the ACOG Committee Opinion "Oral Health Care During Pregnancy and Through the Lifespan" that was first published in 2013 and reaffirmed in 2022. ACOG recommends that these three questions be asked of all pregnant patients at their first obstetric visit, yet there is no literature on how these questions relate to pregnancy and offspring outcomes.
#p-value calculated using Fisher’s Exact Test. ^p-value calculated using Mann-Whitney U test. Of note, this table depicts the data after imputing missing data. Missing or unknown data was imputed assuming the condition was not present except for the variables of age, race, ethnicity, or type of medical insurance.
Adjustments include the statistically significant variables in Table 1: type of medical insurance, chronic hypertension, autoimmune conditions in pregnancy, maternal age, self-described ethnicity, and self-described race. *Gestational hypertension does not include adjustment for chronic hypertension as diagnoses are mutually exclusive. #Data presented as n/N (%) for categorical variables and median (IQR) for continuous variables (e.g. birthweight).
