The SIG in Advocacy Training is a collaboration of faculty in both established and new Advocacy Training programs to share challenges, solutions and resources. It is a great opportunity to network with colleagues sharing common goals.
Pediatric programs are at a time of transition. Many programs have transitioned to an X + Y schedule, or are planning to change in the near future. The requirements for Community Pediatrics and Advocacy Training have become less defined. Each residency program may implement their community and advocacy curriculum differently based upon their individual needs, while still fulfilling ACGME requirements.
This session will provide those interested in community and advocacy training with resources to develop new curriculum or enhance curriculum using evidence-based adult learning principles. It will compare models of residency training including traditional, longitudinal, and X+Y models and provide examples of educational activities that apply adult learning principles.
