The purpose and mission of this SIG are to foster ongoing mentorship, coaching, peer support, networking, career development, guidance in leadership development, and success of academic faculty who identify as mid-career. We welcome academic faculty from research/scientist, clinical educator, advocacy, and clinician scholar tracks. We welcome MD, DO, and PhD faculty who are Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Full Professor rank if “mid-career” issues are at the forefront of their minds!
After a very successful inaugural meeting of the Mid-career SIG at PAS 2024, we plan to build on the positive feedback we received to continue meeting our members’ needs. Those that attended our first SIG meeting reported that they felt “seen” and “validated” and that the SIG gave them a “home” for mentorship through this career period. The most valuable parts of the meeting were the life-hack sharing and the keynote speaker. Members wanted more time learning from each other and talking about strategies for overcoming the challenges they face. With these goals and desires in mind, the SIG chairs and sponsor plan to deliver the following agenda at PAS 2025’s session.
SIG Speaker: Pooja S. Tandon, MD (she/her/hers) – University of Washington School of Medicine
SIG Speaker: Shari Barkin, MD, MSHS (she/her/hers) – Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Emory University School of Medicine
SIG Speaker: Matthew di Guglielmo, MD PhD (he/him/his) – NemoursAlfred I. duPont Hospital for Children
SIG Speaker: Emma Omoruyi, MD, MPH – John P. and Kathrine G. McGovern Medical School part of UTHealth at Houston
