The Bilirubin Club is a global academic forum to discuss and debate the biology and epidemiological burden of bilirubin in the context of research, clinical practice, public policy and therapeutics to promote human well-being. Alloimmunization and hemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn (HDFN) continue to result in many cases of severe anemia and hyperbilirubinemia in the United States and abroad. During the 2025 Bilirubin Club, topic experts will review the ongoing global burden of alloimmunization and HDFN. They will also discuss recent advances in therapies, patient perspectives, and efforts to standardize care for newborns affected with HDFN. Dr. Kenneth J. Moise, Jr is a world leader in research on alloimmunization and HDFN. He is recognized worldwide for his contributions in the fetal treatment of Rh disease, including the development of middle cerebral artery doppler for the non-invasive detection of fetal anemia and the use of free fetal DNA to determine the fetal RhD status. Ms. Bethany Weathersby is the founder and executive director at The Allo Hope Foundation. During her third pregnancy in 2013, Bethany was diagnosed with maternal alloimmunization (Kell antibodies).Unfortunately, her daughter, Lucy, was stillborn just shy of 20 weeks due to HDFN. Determined to continue growing her family, Bethany partnered with two maternal-fetal medicine specialists out of state who supported her throughout her next three pregnancies. In 2019, Bethany founded the Allo Hope Foundation to provide resources and support, and improve care practices for alloimmunized women and HDFN patients.
