This is the third annual PAS Behavioral/Mental Health SIG. Whether you are actively working to address mental health crises or wanting to work more effectively in your current practice with youth and families who are in crisis, this session will provide ideas, resources, and connections, and is applicable to pediatricians in primary care, specialty care, academic medical centers, urban, and rural communities. We will start with an update from current participants in the SIG followed by targeted presentations and discussions around effectively working with youth and families in crisis. We will then move to an open discussion around current hot topics in mental health as identified by participants. Based on topics identified, we will move to smaller breakout groups which will have time for discussion and then report back to the larger group. Anticipated topics include effective collaboration with schools and school-based services, models of integration and collaborative care, perinatal/infant mental health, and trauma informed care.
An interprofessional audience is welcomed with attendees from academic and primary care pediatrics/adolescent medicine, developmental-behavioral pediatrics, psychiatry and behavioral health, education and community-based organizations.
