Workshop Description: Pediatric chronic kidney disease (CKD) has far-reaching impacts on children, their families, and communities. Families describe a need for care that is holistic and considers the multi-faceted aspects of their identities. Further, by increasing our attention to and support of such components of a child's family and identity, we create an environment in which chidren are positioned to flourish in spite of their CKD. Goals of this session include exploring the caregiver and sibling experience of caring for a child with CKD and ways to assess caregiver burden, understanding the role of palliative care services in supporting children and families and appreciating the cultural impact of chronic care managment and medical decision making.
