The Directors of Research in Pediatrics Club meets annually at the PAS meeting. The purpose of the Club is to bring together individuals with an interest in child health research. This includes, but is not limited to, those who have leadership roles in academic pediatric departments, those who are interested in practice based networks, those who are investigators in basic, translational and clinical research, and trainees at all levels who would like to learn more about research-related issues in pediatrics.
Our speaker will be Dr. Wally Carlo on the topic, “Opportunities for Collaboration in Global Health Research.” Dr. Carlo is the Edwin M. Dixon Endowed Chair in Neonatology at the University of Alabama-Birmingham, and the Director, Chronic Lung Disease Prevention Program, Home Readiness Program, Early Developmental Intervention Program. For our purposes today, he leads the UAB sites of the NIH-funded networks including the Global Network for Women’s and Children’s Health Research and the Neonatal Research Network.
