Workshop Description: In pediatric healthcare settings, microaggressions—subtle, often unintentional statements or actions that convey bias or discrimination—can significantly affect both healthcare providers and the families they serve. This interactive workshop is designed to raise awareness and equip participants with practical tools and strategies to effectively respond to microaggressions in pediatric training environments.
Tailored for pediatric residents, fellows, faculty, and medical students, the workshop offers a safe space to reflect on personal experiences, build empathy, and practice approaches to addressing microaggressions. It goes beyond cultural competency, fostering an understanding of cultural humility. Participants will leave with 2-3 actionable educational tools, including the innovative VITALS framework, to help address microaggressions, support colleagues and learners, and promote a more equitable healthcare environment.
